Being a fan of underground music, when I relocated to Columbus, OH I was quickly emerged into the local music by the Tapebreakers Entertainment Crew. One of the first artists I heard was JMartyr. The previous year he put out a mixtape called "Back from the Future" which references one of my favorite movies that pushed me to pursue a career in design. So I thought it fitting to redesign his cover which then emerged into the creation of a mixtape booklet.
I designed a four-panel, front and back mixtape booklet.
I did some research on the 1955s. I wanted to know what the world of art was doing back then so I took at look at some of their ads.
I surrounded myself with images that would reflect both the movie "Back to the Future", and the music industry of 1955.
When I first started designing the background of the booklet I choose to focus in on each individual page as it's own drawing board then I zoomed out to make sure the two panels next to each other flowed well together and then the entire front and back of the booklet.
